DeltaAfrik Engineering Limited is a world-class Engineering Company with vast experience in the Oil & Gas, Power and Infrastructure sectors. We are recruiting to fill the following position.

Position: Pipelines Engineer

Further information

  • Understand all the jobs of Level 1 and be able to do the following additional functions/jobs:
  • Be familiar with basic flow line FEED design issues and processes, Understand inter-discipline interfaces.
  • Develop understanding of mechanical and Pipeline designs by utilizing "Safety In Design" (SID) concepts for equipment and Pipeline layouts.
  • Perform some complex calculations such Pipeline thickness, vessel thickness, tank design, pump sizing and selection etc. 
  • Carry out site visit with superior and be able to take good sketches on site, including generation of site report, sections, elevations, tie-ins and simple Isometric drawings for the modifications of client's existing facility.
  • Generate good Material Take Offs and be able to prepare Material Requisitions.
  • Performs and provides input and technical guidance to CAD Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project.
  • Understand how to use design Codes and Standards and be familiar with a few Codes & Standards
  • Be able to prepare data sheets from scratch with minimum supervision, Use MS applications software, at least to 70 -80% proficiency level.

Job Specific Knowledge: 


  • Working knowledge of the latest applicable engineering codes and standards, design practices and design quality standards.
  • Basic experience in the Offshore/ Onshore orientated Oil and Gas environment.
  • Sound knowledge of Piping drawing and office produced deliverables
  • Skilled in Pipeline Route Selection, Pipeline Shore Approach / Landfall Design, Pressure Containment (Wall Thickness Calculation), On Bottom Stability Analysis and Assessment Pipeline Expansion Calculations, Static Span Assessment, Dynamic Span (vortex InducedVibration VIV) and Fatigue Assessment, etc
  • 3-5 years of related working experience, In addition, an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate is preferred. related working experience.   


Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

Bachelors degree in Mechanical engineering or related field.

HSE Capability:

Commitment to safe working practices and ability to promote safety consciousness within the department

IT Skills: 

Proficient in PC Skills (including CAD, Microstation CAD systems if applicable), MATHCAD, AUTOPIPE, AGA, OFFPIPE

Other:

Limited travel required
Work require liaising with other disciplines to develop design

  1. I work with architects and engineers on a daily basis. AutoCAD is definitely the industry standard for the construction industry. Other industries, such as shipbuilding, manufacturing (CAD/CAM), mechanical engineering, etc. may use different software designed for specific needs. It really depends on what you're looking to do, but you can't go wrong learning AutoCAD. However, it's not cheap software. If you're looking for something to just to mess around with, there are plenty of free CAD programs out there to get stated with (some are better than others).
