Business Development Executive at Oil and Gas/Mining

Location:
Lagos but will be required to visit all locations where the company has operations.
Reporting to the Business Development Manager

Job Summary:

  • Business Development Executive works to increase the company’s business, expand its market position and achieve financial growth. This person aims to:
  • Define long-term business development strategic goals
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of current market conditions
  • Identify and pursue business opportunities
  • Build key customer relationships
  • Win, negotiate and close new business deals
  • Monitor company performance on running contracts to ensure client satisfactions and continued relationship with the clients.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities
Business Development

  • Present to and consult with senior level management on business trends with a view to developing new services, products, and distribution channels
  • Develop business and marketing plans in coordination with the Business Development Manager to achieve revenue goals.
  • Prospect for potential new clients and provide them information on the advantages of the products or services offered also following up with them in order to close new business deals.
  • Cold call as appropriate within your market or geographic area to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities.
  • Identify and establish relationships with potential clients, and the decision makers within the client organization.
  • Analyze the current and past budgets, expenses, sales, revenues and product deficiencies in order to provide recommendations for business growth and problem resolution.
  • Develop creative strategies to retain clients including interviewing them to take their feedback and incorporate it into the growth plan.
  • Assist in company’s branding & media communication activities such as press releases, advertisements, marketing collaterals, website, etc.
  • Prepare the annual marketing budget and track the expenses against the budget.
  • Maintain a knowledge repository of clients, referrals, RFPs, prospects and presentations.
  • Develop strong customer relationships in order to generate high volume of prospective clients.
  • Participate in industry forums, client discussions, and conferences as a representative of the organization.
  • Determine cross-selling opportunities among different offices.
  • Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.

Proposal Development

  • Develop business proposals for new and existing customers.
  • Develop business ideas in line with corporate goals & plans that would translate to bankable projects capable of creating new business opportunities for the company.
  • Expand on already developed ideas to meet new markets and address new clients.

Client Retention

  • Maintain regular contacts with Key clients.
  • Present new products and services to current clients and enhance existing relationships.
  • Effectively communicate with clients to gain commitment to purchase
  • Work with technical staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs.
  • Arrange and participate in internal and external client debriefs.
  • Respond to client queries regarding the company’s products and services in a timely fashion.
  • Manage customer calls and appointments effectively for new opportunities.
  • Supervise the client relationship management database and utilize it to manage customer contacts and mailing lists.

Research and Registrations

  • Research the market to identify new business opportunities.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge about business development practices, marketing activities, prospective clients and industry trends.
  • Ensure that Nelson Dreil is a registered vendor to all key players in the Oil and Gas Industry.
  • Ensure that the Nelson Dreil has all registrations, licenses and permits required to carry out its business.

Qualification Requirement

  • Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent degree and 4 – 5 years of business development, sales or marketing experience.
  • An MBA would be an added advantage.

Accountabilities

  • The position will be measured against KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) in relation to the following:-
  • New Business Development.
  • Proposal Development.
  • Client Retention
  • Research and Registrations

Experience Requirement

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in business development, development and implementation of company-wide business development Plans and programs and in successful company-wide strategic business development planning and implementation Programs focused on engineering Activities.
  • In depth knowledge of local legislation and regulations to determine potential risk and impact on the company.
  • Organizational ability in a multi-interface/technically demanding environment.
  • Language Requirement
  • Ability to communicate eloquently in English.
  • Excellent command of English language (read, speak & write).
  • Able to communicate effectively within a multinational environment.
  • IT Knowledge Requirement
  • High Level of I.T Competence.
  • Candidate must be able to use the following applications:-

  • Microsoft projects/Primavera
