Project assistant at The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture(IITA) Ibadan

IITA is an international non-profit agricultural research-for-development (R4D) organization established in 1967, governed by a Board of Trustees, and a member of the CGIAR Consortium.

Our R4D approach is anchored on the development needs of tropical regions of the world. We work with partners to enhance crop quality and productivity, reduce producer and consumer risks, and generate wealth from agriculture. We have more than 100 internationally recruited scientists from about 35 countries and 900 nationally recruited staff based in various stations across Africa.

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable candidate for the position below in its Headquarters in Ibadan.

PROJECT ASSISTANT

DESCRIPTION:
• Liaise with partners and assist in the internal communication between the regional office and the CSHC and maintaining project documentation centre.
• Assist in the reporting to the donor
• Maintaining the project Website and issuing the project newsletter.
• Maintaining the various project database (data management tasks)
• Assist in organizing meeting and training events. Data management
• Maintain the project partner and stakeholder database, making sure the database is populated and data is kept up-to-date
• Gathering the baseline data collected in the various countries and assist in analyses of data
• Gathering ISFM (trial) data from various sources, organizing and documenting the data and maintaining the ISFM database
• Gathering ISFM knowledge and information products (including extension and dissemination materials) and maintaining the repository of these products.
• Assist in analyses of the ISFM data and developing information sharing products (extension materials) and putting together training materials

JOB DESCRIPTION:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
• M.Sc in Agronomy, Soil Science or related discipline with specialization in soil fertility management with 3 years relevant experience

SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Good data analysis skills
• Experience with data management (e.g. database management)
• Good communication skills, especially in written communication
• Ability to work independently and ability to acquire skills quickly (fast learner)
• Self-motivated and pro-active person willing to take initiative
• Good computer skills, MS-Office applications, use of document management applications, software for publishing and lay-outing will be an advantage
• Excellent command of English language and knowledge of French will be an advantage.
