Job Title: System Engineer

Location: Nigeria

Activities

The System Engineer will assist the Riser System for the delivery of the OOLs, in accordance with Contracts requirements, in particular technical requirements and schedule, ensuring all aspects of the EPCI works are accounted for in due time.

This means:

  • Supervising the OOLs Detailed Engineering / Qualification / Procurement activities performed by Contractor
  • Following up Manufacturing, Fabrication, Installation and Pre-commissioning activities performed by Contractor and managed by inspection, construction and installation teams
  • Reviewing of all relevant Engineering / Qualification / Procurement documentation, ensuring the adequate level of priority is given
  • Ensuring that Engineering / Qualification / Procurement activities are performed in line with Contracts requirements and Project Specifications, all within project schedule
  • Ensuring that Engineering / Qualification / Procurement activities are performed in line with client General Specifications and issue proper derogations, if required
  • Ensuring that Engineering activities are progressed to a sufficient level before the start of Qualification, Procurement, Manufacturing and Fabrication activities
  • Ensuring that design and qualification outcomes/ constraints are adequately considered in due time for Procurement, Manufacturing, Fabrication, Installation and Pre-commissioning, and vice/ versa
  • Ensuring that for the Manufacturing and Fabrication of critical items, ITPs are reviewed in due time by the relevant parties and are given the right level of attention
  • Assisting Manufacturing, Fabrication, Installation and Pre-commissioning activities and leading the resolution of technical issues when necessary
  • Assisting in interface management with buoy Contractors
  • Answering Contractor technical queries as necessary
  • Ensuring that HSE requirements are taken into consideration during design
  • Getting assistance from dedicated project team specialists (such as flexible, hydrodynamics, structural, material & welding, corrosion & coating, etc ...)
  • Getting assistance from specialists, or third parties, if required, for specific topics
  • Providing inputs to contract correspondence, as necessary
  • Issuing reports and presentations as necessary
  • Participating in various technical reviews (Hazids, Hazops, Project Technical Reviews, Risk Assessments) and ensuring implementation of recommendations as necessary HSE
  • To ensure that all safety and environmental required studies will be reviewed/updated and that final design will comply with ALARP policy.
  • To ensure that design will comply with all HSE requirements and that Safety and Environment dossiers will be provided to National Authorities in due time.
  • To demonstrate leadership for implementation of Company requirements on technological risks management.
  • To ensure that all recommendations from safety studies and technical reviews are fully addressed in design phase.
  • To ensure necessary resources are available for preparation of information needed to issue safety and environmental dossiers.
  • To fully comply with office security, health and safety instructions.
  • To stay vigilant and maintain continuous awareness of hazards and surroundings.
  • To report to Management on any issue they may face or observe and propose way of improvement.
  • To also take care of colleagues safety and behaviour without hesitating to intervene as much as necessary.
  • To give his own input and making sure the workplace is safe (obviously clean and tidy).
  • In doubt to ask questions to gain clarification.
  • To fully comply with Security rules about Traveling in Nigeria.

Accountabilities

  • Reports directly to the Risers System Leader
  • Accountable for the delivery of the OOLs in accordance with Contract requirements, in particular technical/ HSE requirements, within schedule and without undue change to the scope

Qualification and Experiences Required

  • Graduate degree in a relevant engineering discipline MANDATORY (copy of diploma to be provided) with M.Sc or equivalent. Pending experience candidates with B.Sc may be also given consideration.
  • 5 years experience in flexible/ dynamic riser engineering, hydrodynamics for Projects (pending profile, candidates with less experience and previous exposure to EPCI projects will be also given due considerations). Relevant experience will include development of detail design specifications, performance and / or validation of detail design calculations for flexible lines, follow-up of fabrication and installation activities.
  • Good knowledge of international design codes / standards, general specifications.
  • Good sense of organization, ability to prioritize activities, to identify critical aspects, to propose way forwards, to lead specialists or third parties, to summarize and present complex design issues including transverse and interfaces matters
  • Some basic knowledge in structural design and flow-assurance will be also valuable.
  • Some basic knowledge in material, corrosion, coatings will be also valuable.
  • Fluent in English both verbal and written.
