Job Title: Shift Coordinators

Location: Ogun

Job Summary
Expected to promote and lead a world class approach to Health, Safety and the Environment amongst both NLS employees and contractors through briefing, training, raising awareness and leading by example. Play a leading and critical role in promoting a culture of excellence in the areas of Health, Safety and the Environment function

The Health Safety and Environment Department will be responsible for the management of both the environmental (ISO14001) and health and safety management system (ISO18001) and to the company and Country Standards. The Health Safety and Environment Department is a source of expertise advisory on all HSE issues to Line Management and all personnel.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement Environmental awareness program including training materials
  • Carry out regular environmental inspections and internal audits
  • Carry out regular analysis of manufacturing impacts on air, water and land
  • General report of inspections / audits and generate corrective actions
  • Participate in departmental and committee HSE meetings on regular basis
  • Participate in Environmental and Safety auditing
  • Provide relevant HSE training to employees, contractors and visitors
  • Monitor and Report non-conformance's and corrective actions, including spill / accident investigation
  • Maintain record of all monthly Environmental KPI’s
  • Liaison with Local Authorities and the general public as required
  • Ensure all statutory returns are completed

Education
  • NEBOSH Certificate, Environmental / Safety or related qualification
  • First Degree in Science / Engineering / Technical Subjects
  • Knowledge and Experience
  • Min 4 years of HSE experience in Cement/ Construction / Manufacturing
  • Knowledge of relevant environmental law, and ISO 14001 / EMAS
  • Experience of safety / Environmental auditing
  • Experience of accident investigation and reporting

  • Good level of data entry, analysis and reporting skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong problem solving and trouble shooting skills
  • Ability to work well within diverse teams
  • Self-Motivated with a proven ability to motivate others
  • Display a drive, flair and passion for HSE results
