Role Summary / Purpose The EHS Manager will demonstrate accountability for functional, business and the general objectives of the company. In this role, you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the region, manage complex issues within functional area (s) of expertise, to participate in long-term planning, and contribute the overall business strategy.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage EHS framework and change management training in sub-Saharan Africa
  • Helping businesses of GE Energy acquisitions and divestitures.
  • Working with Energy EHS HQ Transactions and integration lead to ensure EHS energy process is followed for each transaction.
  • Assist in the compliance of GE Energy sites, conduct audits and training, working with local resources on the site EHS issues.
  • Assess the risks and challenges for all new projects and services and business support ESS leads.
  • support companies on all things external EHS awareness.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies to develop strong relationships and provide strategic EHS regulatory guidance for EW operations in Africa
  • Work closely with GE EHS leaders in the programs of institutions that drive regulatory compliance and continuous improvement of the main indicators of EHS compliance of all operations in Africa GE.
  • Be a guide and mentor for EHS professionals in Africa.
  • Work with the management team to build a pipeline EHS leadership ESS in the region.
  • Helping businesses all EHS HQ actions like OneGE, risk reduction, etc. NoHarm


Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in health and safety, engineering and environmental sciences
  • Excellent leadership and communication
  • Minimum of 10 years of EHS experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of EHS regulations.
  • Expertise with EHS management systems
  • Experience with customer interactions.
  • Advanced, mainly with MS Office software Computer Skills


Certification

  • Lean / Six Sigma experience / Quality
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage the overall program in a matrix organizational environment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and interact effectively with staff in several places in Africa and in the world.
