Job Title: Supply Chain Technical Lead
Job Purpose/Scope

The role has responsibility for supply chain technical aspects of functional beverages across GSK’s West Africa supply sites, and is based in Agbara, Nigeria. The initial focus of the role is to ensure appropriate supply chain technical capability is in place for:
•Commissioning and start up of new manufacturing capacity in West Africa
•Robust manufacture of existing products for West Africa
•Local supply chain technical leadership for effective commercialisation of new product introductions and value engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities
Develop capable technical teams at each of the West Africa Supply sites, ensuring
•Robust manufacturing processes in place across West Africa supply sites to routinely deliver products meeting consumer quality critical attributes.
•Ability to receive and rapidly commercialise NPI and Value Engineering projects
•Ability to bring on stream additional capacity effectively

Develop capability in West Africa Supply Chain for technical risk assessment, and remediation / discharge of key technical risks.

Ensure standardisation of processes (as much as possible) across all sites making the same product.

Provide expertise, guidance and direction to CH supply chain sites on all aspects of the manufacture & analytical assessment of beverages.

Assist the manufacturing sites in identifying waste and process inefficiencies, and provide technical support to reduce the cost of waste and/or improve efficiencies within the sites.

Provide technical support and leadership for resolution of significant issues that affect product quality or supply where the issue cannot be resolved by the site.

Establish technically and operationally sound processes, standards, practices and resource allocation across CH supply chain locations, to ensure activities are consistently and rigourously conducted to the highest scientific standards and adhere to all regulatory and quality guidelines.

Partner with NPD and CH Supply Chain through effective alliances to identify, evaluate and implement new technologies to add distinctiveness and value through dosage form design to our new products.

Through matrix leadership of relevant NPD/Supply Chain interfaces, encourage a high level of innovation and demand excellence in the design, development and implementation of new products and process to support the growth ambitions of GSK Consumer Healthcare in the local market.

Own the manufacturing process for products made at more than one site and ensure processes for new products are standardised at all sites manufacturing the product.

Liaise effectively with technical experts supporting other sites to implement global solutions and practices/process where possible to reduce complexity within GMS

Work with NPD teams to design & develop "end to end" industrial scale manufacturing and analytical processes and gain the detailed scientific understanding of these processes so that appropriate product/process control strategies may be developed and implemented

Qualifications, Experience
•B.Sc. or B.Eng technical degree from any of the following backgrounds: Food Technology, Food Engineering or Chemistry with extensive experience in at least two technical/quality roles in FMCG food /beverage manufacturing
•Extensive industrial experience in drinks manufacturing and/or development (>15 yrs)
•Proven ability at building technical capability on a Regional basis, to support business needs
•Proven ability to lead technical projects to deliver business results
•Proven ability at influencing internally and externally
•Proven ability to lead in a Matrix and cross-functional environment on a Regional basis
•Good understanding of the beverage industry’s current technological state with regard to Unit Operations, Science & Engineering

Competencies
•Understanding of new product development process from formulation, through technology transfer to manufacturing
•Deep & specific technical knowledge of beverages, with primary focus on liquids blending, pasteurisation and filling operations (hot and cold fill).
•Ability to influence people external to GSK who may be involved in setting standards for dosage form design and manufacture.
•Technical understanding of bottle blowing operations would be an advantage.
•Excellent technical and problem solving skills
•Excellent communications skills both verbal and written
•Excellent project and process management skills gained within a complex matrix environment
•Understanding of lean sigma / operational excellence.
•In-depth knowledge of beverage industry regulatory and quality requirements
