Abia State Government, Civil Service Commission vacancies: Chairman, Board Of Internal Revenue (BIR) and Accountant-General

Abia State is a state in south-eastern Nigeria. The capital is Umuahia, although the major commercial city is Aba, formerly a British colonial government outpost. The state was created in 1991 from part of Imo State and its citizens are predominantly Igbo people (95% of population).It is one of the nine constituent states of the Niger Delta region.

Abia State Government invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacancies in the Abia State Civil Service:

1. Vacancy For The Post Of Chairman, Board Of Internal Revenue (BIR).

A. Qualifications:

(I) B.Sc. Accountancy or Economics or LLB. Candidates must have at least, Second Class Upper Division.

(ii) Candidate must be a full member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) as well as any of The following Accounting

bodies:

i. Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN);

ii. Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN):

iii. Association of Certified Corporate Accountants (ACCA);

iv. Institute of Cost and ManagementAccountants (ICMA);

V. Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy, (CIPFA) or

vi. Institute of Certified Public Accountants (ICPA)

B. Age: Must not be above 45 years

C. Post Qualification cognate experience: Must not be below 5 years.

D. Applicants must show evidence of ability to revolutionize the revenue system of the State to generate a minimum of one billion (N1bn)

naira every month.

E. Successful candidate will undergo a probationary period of one year within which his/her performance will be assessed.

F. Salary: As obtainable in the Public Service.

2. Vacancy For The Post Of Accountant-General.

A. Qualifications: B. Sc. Accountancy or Economics preferably with Second Class Upper Division.

B. The applicant must be a full member of any of the professional Accounting bodies listed above.

C. Post qualification cognate experience: The candidate must have a post qualification cognate experience of 10 years.

D. Age: Must not be above 45.

E. Salary: As obtainable in the Public Service.
