Job Description
The position reports to the Managing Director and has primary responsibility for providing financial advice to the company on judicious utilisation and management of financial assets. The focus is to make significant contribution to the strategic direction of the company ensuring optimal returns on investment with the aim of minimizing risks to the achievement of bottom-line corporate objectives.

Key Accountabilities

• Develops and implements effective financial strategies, policies, controls framework and management systems to guide and support business operations ensuring compliance with statutory provisions
• Provides support in the development of strategic plans, forecasts and making recommendations as appropriate through evidence based financial modeling
• Implements approved Board and Management financial policies in line with Generally Accepted Financial / Accounting Practices, IFRS and other statutory requirements
• Drives the preparation of company annual budgets and monitors performance against targets
• Develops and utilises financial models to provide a basis for investment decisions, cash flow planning etc
• Prepares and presents the Joint Venture and PSC accounts, periodic financial performance reports, management accounts, annual financial statements etc to the Board/Executive management
• Advises board/Executive Management on optimal sourcing and application of funds and implications of changes in financial regulations, legislation and government tariffs
• Manages relationships with external auditors, banks and other relevant regulatory authorities
• Manages all tax matters on PAYE, CIT, PPT etc. including processing, reconciliation and remittance
• Manages the Finance Function for effectiveness and efficiency ensuring optimal utilisation of staff performance.

Skills & Competencies

• The ideal candidate must have skills in accounting, treasury, corporate finance, IFRS, tax, financial controls, budgeting, payroll management, financial modeling with sound grasp of the oil and gas upstream industry. Success in this role demands strong leadership, analytical, problem solving and communication skills. Strong negotiation, good business orientation, inquiring capacity, self-confidence, integrity and ability to cope well with pressure and engage key stakeholders both within and outside the organization are critical requirements of the role. Candidate must also be proficient in the use of relevant financial application and MS-Office tools.

Education and Experience

• B.Sc in Finance, Accounting or any Finance related discipline with Professional certification – ACA, ACCA, CPA
• MBA or Masters degree in a finance discipline is required
• Minimum of 10 years post-graduation experience in Finance and Accounting function in the Oil & Gas industry or professional services firm with at least 2 years in a Senior Management position.
