Job description Inspection Engineer
For one of our clients, a major oil & gas operator, we are currently seeking an Inspection Engineer to work on an FPSO offshore Nigeria. This position is open to Nigerian nationals only.
Main responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspection and report the condition of Pressure Systems, Pressure vessels, Piping systems and Structures
- Witness/Verify the recertification of pressure relieving devices, ensure the accuracy of calibration and issue certificate for approval
- Monitor the various corrosion prevention techniques implemented on site (CC, CER, CP etc) and provide periodic report relating to their effectiveness and condition using trending tools or specific software e.g. Multitrend
- Monitor modifications and welding activities on AKPO and ensure that inspection controls are effected which include but not limited to Visual Inspections, Ultrasonic, Thermography, MPI, DPI, etc
- Perform specific investigations or analyses about corrosion, or cracks, or other unforeseen defects; participates as required to the technical discussions or complementary works with the experts or specialists mobilised on the subject.
- Ensure the proper filing of the technical documentation including the official inspection certificates
- Follow-up the Inspections performed by the authorities and certifying authorities, coordinates their missions as required, follows-up their Service and facilitates their activities.
- Assist the Inspection Team Leader in all aspects, as required, in relation to the inspections activities performed by the Inspection Contractors
- Coordinate as instructed, the lifting equipment periodic inspection with the Contractors and the various equipment users. Ensure proper follow-up and implementation of colour coding system.
- Assist the Inspection Team Leader in all documentation aspects including Unisup reporting, and follow up of materials procurement.
- Perform specific inspections as requested by Inspection Team Leader, report findings.
- Maintain databases as required, such as lifting equipment listings, PSV database and certification status, Gas Cylinders etc.
- Perform ad-hoc inspection as may be necessary, Investigate any observed degradation observed and make recommendation necessary to preserve or to restore the integrity of the equipment
- Participates to inspection activities of whatsoever nature as required for the purpose of the work.
- Participate in Continuous Surveys of Hull Items as per BV Classed Items and issue necessary reports
- Participate in the training programme follow-up from an inspection viewpoint
- Ensures proper coordination and communication in the fields of Inspection and Integrity at own level with staff of same or other, offshore or onshore based.
- Co-ordinate these actions with other Inspection staff, from both Company or Contractors, offshore and onshore.
Requirements Inspection Engineer
- Technical Engineer, with background in metallurgy, welding, chemistry, materials, mechanical and/or specific training during or post studies on inspection, quality control, corrosion control, etc.
- Experience limited to various short durations Services during studies may be acceptable.
- Motivated beginner, agreeing to work offshore in operational environment for at least 10 years could be acceptable
