Population Council is an international, non-profit,
non-governmental institution that seeks to improve the well-being and
reproductive health of current and future generations around the world and help
achieve a human, equitable and sustainable balance between people and
resources. The council’s major program areas are HIV/AIDS, reproductive health
and poverty, gender, and youth. The Council conducts biomedical, social science
and public health research and helps build research capacities in developing
countries. The Population council works in collaboration with a broad range of
Nigerian institutions. Due to expansion of its activities, the Council is
seeking qualified individuals to fill the following positions:
1.) Technical Advisor - MARPs - Abuja
Qualifications
Level of Education:
Relevant degree in public health, epidemiology, applied
epidemiology, social sciences, epidemiology research methods or other relevant
degrees.
An MPH degree is preferred
5 years of experience in developing and providing capacity
strengthening suing evidence based approaches and 3 years of HIV and AIDS
program design and management. Knowledge and experience in working with must at
risk populations and in developing MARPs-focused behaviour change interventions
is preferred
Written and spoken English excellent
Strong scientific and commercial communication skills
Willingness to travel with in the country and across the
region on a regular basis
High degree of independence, creativity and commitment
Strong interpersonal, supervisory, and organizational skills
Excellent writing, editorial, statistical analysis and
commendation skills
Previous NGO experience provides added advantage
Experience with and a high degree of competency suing
Windows-based computer programs and the internet
2.) Program Officers: Kogi, Kwara, Kano, and Abuja
Qualifications
Minimum of bachelor’s degree
A master’s degree in Health Policy, Public Administration,
or Public Health is preferred
A minimum of 5years relevant working experience in Public
policy, non-profit management, or related field
Basic computer skills and knowledge of MS Excel, Word and
Power Point required
Ability and willingness to travel within the country and
across the region on a regular basis
High degree of independence, creativity and commitment
Strong analytic and combination skills, ability to write
clearly and succinctly under time pressure and to make well organized verbal
presentations
3.) M & E Coordinator - Abuja
Qualification
A minimum of master’s in social science, statistics, public
health or any related area
Desired Number of years of prior experience in a similar
role – 5years
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent English language
Ability to use the following statistical packages-Epi Data,
STATA, and SPSS
Ability to travel within and outside Nigeria
Strong analytic and database skills including statistical
analysis
Experience in
implementing management information systems and filed research is an added
advantage
