The QED Group seeks qualified candidates to serve as Team
Leader to manage and supervise a six-month anticipated project evaluation
focused on community empowerment and governance accountability activities in
the three northern Nigeria states of Kaduna, Jigawa and Kano. The project is funded by the UK Department
for International Development (DFID). Project office will be based in Kano with
frequent travel to these three states. Follow-up work is expected.
Responsibilities:
Work closely with the
donor, the project service provider and the Deputy Team Leader, plan, schedule,
manage and monitor the work of the evaluation team in order to provide quality
timely deliverables
Provide technical leadership of the evaluation team on the
overall evaluation methodology, approaches (for data collection and analysis) and
international best practice.
Serve as the primary point of contact and donor liaison for
the evaluation team.
Work closely with the Deputy Team Leader, ensure that
logistical, administrative and financial issues are addressed to maintain the
smooth functioning of the evaluation mission.
Directly supervise evaluation deputy team leader and
indirectly other team members.
Lead the drafting, preparation and presentation of any
reports and presentations, be they weekly, monthly, quarterly or ad hoc.
Build and maintain a strong motivated team through
mentoring, coaching, clear and open communications.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 15 years international development experience
with at least five-years’ experience in
designing and implementing monitoring and evaluating frameworks, plans and systems.
A minimum of one year of experience serving as an evaluation
or M&E Team Leader.
At least two field assignments in Africa with Nigeria or
West Africa experience preferred.
Sectorial expertise in community development / empowerment,
governance and/or capacity building grants.
Masters’ in social sciences, statistics, international
development or related field.
Experiencing working on or managing a DFID-funded activity
within the last five years a plus.
Demonstrated flexibility and an ability to develop strong
working relationships in a complex working environment.
Fluency in written and spoken English. Working proficiency in Hausa a plus.
Advanced proficiency in MS Office suite
