Purpose:
To plan, organize and control the day-to day activities of our Client’s E&P technical and operations team. (Supports the Managing Director in the overall administration of the company) To effectively plan, execute and manage Exploration, Drilling, Petroleum Engineering, Engineering & Projects, Operations & Maintenance as well as Contracts and Procurement Activities. To manage the company's interface with government agencies and local communities and to ensure that all company activities meet statutory and industry HSE standards.
The Candidate for this position is to team up with other Senior business leaders to ensure alignment of the responsibilities as indicated below to achieve the strategic corporate vision of the organization with year on year delivery of business targets.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Working closely with the Managing Director to develop the core values and strategy required to deliver the growth plan set by the Company. This growth will predominately come through setting up of operations, processes and procedures for start-up E & P business, acquisition and efficient management of assets, and effective communication of Business and Operational Objectives to all stakeholders.
Directly oversee/drive the day-to-day operations of various business activities with the objective of increasing shareholder-value through efficient, timely and cost effective maturation of business opportunities.
Management of assets to maximise value based on the life cycle evaluation and business needs.
Provide the Managing Director and the Board with own analysis of business environment (Technical, Economic, Commercial, political) and advice on business opportunities leveraging own experience and robust network of relationship with key stakeholders.
Monitor process performance against set targets and ensure that assets performance is also monitored, and compliance verified with agreed performance targets and business needs.
Promote and inspire values associated with operational excellence, workplace safety, environmental best practices and exemplary business ethics, integrity and entrepreneurship.
Develop and implement communication plan for the organisation’s Exploration and Production operational activities to maintain and enhance customer/stakeholder relationships specifically at a senior government level and among other key players in the industry.
Set operational and/or performance goals to ensure that progress is being made and establish/ monitor Performance Reporting Systems to ensure that the strategic corporate objectives are strictly adhered to and monitored..
Competencies Required:
Bottom-line focused with proven technical and commercial skills to drive delivery of business.
Recognised mastery in at least one of upstream technical disciplines with broad knowledge of petroleum engineering or project management with demonstrable experience in the successful leadership of multi-discipline/cultural teams.
Previous experience in the development of a cohesive, multi cultural team of Project Management Team will be well regarded.
Demonstrable ability in people and resources management skills, a strategic thinker and smart enough to quickly recognise and take/ seize business opportunities.
Deep Knowledge of operating environment in the oil and gas contract and able to demonstrate a track record of operations management success within the industry.
Expertise in all legislation and codes of practice pertaining to the oil and gas upstream operations.
Experienced in leading multiple disciplines and effectively interface with all disciplines in-house and with those of the JV Partners/clients and industry stakeholders.
Ability to walk in a challenging environment.
Education:
Bachelor degree in Applied Science or Engineering. A Post Graduate degree would be an added advantage
Experience:
Minimum of 18 years E&P experience working on multiple projects and operations, in a client/ operator environment at a senior level.
